NIAGARA FALLS
What Is Where: The Niagara Falls are located in Niagara Falls Ontario and Niagara Falls NY along the US-Canada Border. Why There: The falls are located on the Niagara river which carries the outward flow of water from lake Erie to Lake Ontario. The falls account for roughly 50% of the altitude covered by the river. Why Care: Niagara Falls is Canada's most notorious tourism spots which sees visitors travel across the world to view the majesty of the three water falls. The surrounding area is also occupied by casinos and resorts which generates lots of income for the area. As Well as being a tourism hot spot the falls also generate a lot of power for the Niagara Region (Sir Adam Beck Hydroelectric Plant). |
PORT DALHOUSIE
What Is Where: Port Dalhousie is a lakefront community located in St. Catharines Ontario. It lies on the southern shores of lake Ontario in the north of the Niagara Peninsula. Why There: It is located at the end of the First Three Welland Canals, and has seen many ships carry goods from lake Erie northwards. Why Care: Port Dalhousie shows off the true beauty of St. Catharines simple yet picturesque shores and beaches. It does not only serve the purpose of being a port community but nowadays serves as a quaint tourist destination filled with various forms of entertainment and the arts. |
MERIDIAN CENTRE
What Is Where: 1 IceDogs Way, St Catharines, Ontario. Why There: The Meridian Centre is a multi purpose inclosed arena for concerts and hockey games and was recently completed to be the home of newly located OHL team 'Niagara Ice Dogs'. Why Care: The Meridian Centre is the largest arena in St. Catharines and is host to many concerts and sports games for citizens to entertain themselves. The stadium seats 5, 300 (hockey) and 6, 000 (concerts). Besides no Canadian city is complete without a hockey team! |
